There might be more but there are at least two reasonsfor playing the game of Baccarat. One is that Baccarat has a low house edge and the second is that it is easy to play for a gambler. At the start, two hands are dealt; one is for the banker and the second for the player. The main object of the game is getting as near as possible to nine. The hand which is closest to nine wins the hand. The aces count as one, the picture cards count as ten, and if the count goes over ten, the first digit of the count is ignored. So if the two cards are a nine and a six, the score is considered as five. There are rules for drawing the third card to either of the hands but they are quite complicated. The dealer however is thoroughly aware of the rules. Out of the two, the player can bet on the dealer's (banker's) hand, player's hand or he may just bet on a tie. The rules of the game favor the banker to win the hand. So if you bet on the dealer's hand and win, the casino charges a commission of five percent.
