Baccarat rules are quite basic and easily understood. Once you learn them you will feel completely at ease at any Baccarat table or mini Baccarat table either at a casino or when playing online. When you are the player you have the choice of betting on either the banker’s hand winning, or the player’s hand, or a tie. The player and the banker are each dealt two cards. You win even money if the hand you are betting on wins. This is a 1 to 1 bet. So if you bet five dollars you would get back your five plus five. So you are ahead an amount equal to your bet. If you bet on a tie and it turns out to be a tie you are paid at the rate of 8 to 1. In this case if you had bet $5 you would win back your original bet plus $40 dollar in addition.
Objective of the Game:What you are attempting to do is to get a total of cards that is close to 9. With the exception of the ace which counts as 1, tens and face cards are counted as zero. The cards of 2 through 9 receive their face value. Just as the rules of Baccarat are simple so are the scoring and the main goal of the game. you can't bust like in blackjack but when your initial two cards add up to a two digit number, the first digit is dropped. For example, if you were dealt a pair of sixes the total would be 12 but it would be set as 2 as the first digit is dropped.
Cards Values: Final count: When the total count of your cards is more than ten, you subtract 10.
E.g. An 8 and a 9 hand totals 7 (after subtracting 17).
Playing the Game:In the event that the first two cards dealt come to a total of 8 or 9, the cards are called a natural and automatically win, unless there is a tie, and the other hand is also a natural. If one of the hands is a natural, than both hands stand and the natural hand is the winner. If the total of cards does not come to a natural within for either hand, then another card is drawn by each hand to decide which is the winner. The winning banker hand is usually charged a tax of 5% by the casino. Bear in mind that any player can serve as banker and not simply a casino employee. Here is a hint. You know that if a casino takes a part of a hand’s winnings and that is just one hand, then that hand probably has a good chance of winning.
It should be noted that even when the house takes a 5% commission from winnings on the banker’s hand it is still advantagous to bet on the banker’s hand. It is a slim advantage, something like 0.18%, but when you are talking about gambling that is not really that small. Now you should know enough to start playing Baccarat. It is still best to start by playing online. After a short while you’ll feel comfortable playing anywhere. There aren’t many rules and those that do exist are rather simple. Still it’s a bit different from other games that you may have played in a casino so it takes a little getting used to.
Both the player and the banker are dealt two cards each. If either of their hand totals 8 or even 9, both hands will stand. If the hand of the player totals 6 or 7, the player will stand. When the player stands the banker then has to get a total of 5 or less.
